Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty is the method of removing skin, adipose and partially muscle tissue in the eyelid area.

The operation is performed according to the clinical picture on the upper eyelids, lower eyelids or both at the same time. The most common cause is dermatochalasis (mainly in the upper eyelid) followed by prolapse of fat of the orbita (mainly in the lower eyelid) and more rarely entropion. In the first two cases the operation is carried out most of the time for aesthetic reasons but also for medical reasons such as due to a lack of upper and temporal field of vision.

As far as the aesthetic side is concerned, we must not forget that it is the area of the eyes and therefore also of the eyelids that first attracts the attention of others and greatly affects the external appearance.

Heavy eyelids with folds give the impression that this is a man distressed, tired, old and tired.

Smooth eyelids, without folds and without covering the eyes to a greater than normal degree give the impression of a happy, rested and young man.

The duration of the operation varies between half and one hour (depends on whether it is upper, lower eyelids or both), is performed under local anesthesia with a scalpel or with CO2CO2 – Laser the well-known Laser Laser dioxide. Basic condition for an aesthetically and functionally satisfactory result or not taking a drug that affects blood coagulation (e.g., aspirin) at least two weeks preoperatively as well as avoiding direct contact with sunlight for about three months postoperatively to reduce the likelihood of scarring in the incision. “A hematoma that always appears immediately after surgery is aesthetically acceptable to almost everyone undergoing the operation as it gradually subsides within seven to ten days.
