If the eye globe is smaller than normal, the rays of light meet behind the retina. For this reason, the objects in proximity are not clearly seen, in a high degree of hyperopia, nor those at a distance.

Therapy

As with astigmatism and myopia it is necessary for clear vision to use contact lenses or glasses. Hyperopia can be corrected by using laser beams (LASIK, PRK )

Characteristic of hyperopia is the appearance of presbyopia at a younger age than in emmetropics (“normal”).
