Presbyopia

With the increase in age, between the ages of 40 and 50, all the “normal” (emmetropic) are needed glasses for reading. This is because of the aged lens, which is no longer able to focus when trying to see objects nearby. In case of hyperopia, presbyopia appears earlier, in case of myopia at an older age or never.

Therapy

Apart from the use of glasses, there is currently no therapeutic approach that provides a satisfactory solution to the problem of presbyopia. The use of multifocal lenses that are placed during the cataract surgery or the cause of a small myopia in one eye (monovision) are solutions that are considered partially effective.
